Q. Our domestic and international remote users can’t communicate with the corporate headquarters via the company network. How can we all just get along?
A. AT&T, MCI, Sprint, Savvis, Qwest among many other carriers all have world-class networks from which there are dozens of VPN (virtual private network) flavors to choose. Whether you want to manage it yourself or have it professionally managed, the technology is available and affordable to allow every employee to communicate seamlessly with the corporate office regardless of location.
Q. Our P.O.S. system is too slow with our current network configuration. Where’s the speed?
A. Repeat after me: DSL, DSL, DSL. Available in most any sizeable city in the country, DSL is a low-cost, always-on and fast connection. The days of having your customers line up for minutes because the credit card machine has to dial the access number for each card is so 1999!
Q. With locations across the country, we receive dozens of different bills from various carriers for our local phone and DSL services. Rescue me from telecom hell!
A. In a word - CONSOLIDATE!! It is not as hard as it sounds. Companies such as AT&T and MCI have a nationwide footprint for local and DSL services. You might not be able to get all your locations with one carrier, but you’ll find you can get the majority. The result: The convenience of one bill for most of your locations and cost savings from larger commitments with one carrier!
Q. We are tired of spending so much time calling different people for every different telecom issue. Is there a way around this?
A. Consider a consultant who, for a fee, can handle all of your telecom issues as your single point of contact. Or even better, you can utilize a telecom agent who is paid by the carriers. In either case you make ONE CALL and your problems are taken care of!
Q. Our employees have to wait much too long to send and receive emails or access the Internet over our current connection. This seems to be a waste of their time and our money!
A. Unless you live in the far reaches of the Amazon rain forest, fast and inexpensive Internet access can be had from virtually every carrier. Here’s another hint: shop around, but you shouldn’t need too many quotes as the majority of carriers have very aggressively priced Internet access, both DSL or dedicated T1.
Q. Our intra-company long distance calls are costing us a fortune. Where are the savings?
A. OK, I am going to use a four-letter word here: FREE. With the advancement of VoIP (voice over Internet Protocol) technologies, intra-company calls can be made over the same network for FREE! I repeat: FREE! VoIP is a great option for companies that have a lot of intra-company dialing. And with the various flavors of VoIP, both small and large companies can take advantage of this technology. The ensuing cost savings after a VoIP implementation goes right to the bottom line.
