Customer Case
Studies
Below are a few
snapshots of
problems faced
by our
customers, and
the solutions we
have crafted for
them.
Restaurant Chain
Centralizes Control
of Local Phone
Service
THE COMPANY
– A multi-location,
multi-state upscale
national restaurant
chain growing 30-50
stores across the
U.S. per year.
PROBLEM
- With every
restaurant ordering
lines when and in
whatever quantities
they felt like, the
company had lost
control over local
phone service. Costs
and billing issues
were escalating out
of control. The
company knew,
however, what it
wanted: to
consolidate local
carriers for its
existing 80
restaurants, as well
as have just one
point of outside
contact working with
its internal telecom
team to coordinate
all new line
installs.
SOLUTION
– In 2003 Tricom
teamed up with AT&T
and its vast local
services network
footprint to port
more than 80
locations from the
various LECs (Local
Exchange Carriers)
across the country
to provide AT&T
local services to
existing
restaurants.
Additionally, Tricom
utilized AT&T to
install local
services for more
than 70 new
restaurants for this
customer. As of
August 2005, the
customer now has
approximately 75% of
its restaurants with
AT&T local service,
including one
centralized bill for
all local and long
distance service.
The remaining 25%
are no longer a
headache either:
Tricom directly
coordinates with the
local carriers to
manage all new
installs.
RESULTS
- Costs and billing
issues are under
control again. Most
importantly, the
customer now only
has to make one call
to Tricom for all
local services –
meaning precious
management time is
now spent on opening
more restaurants
instead of worrying
about telephone line
installs.
Expanding Employment
Agency Seeks
Experienced Telcom
Expert
THE COMPANY
– A major Southwest
employment agency
growing at a
breakneck pace.
PROBLEM
- Facing
double-digit growth
in a “hot” economy,
this Arizona-based
company found it
could not keep up
with the increasing
number of telecom
issues it began
experiencing as a
result of its
success. The
company’s main
telecom manager
needed help, and
quickly, with
orders, repairs,
billing issues, line
moves – just about
everything. She
simply no longer had
the time to dedicate
to calling separate
telecom carriers
multiple times each
week or even day.
SOLUTION
– Tricom took over
the role of internal
“Telecom” expert for
the customer. Now
when the telecom
manager needs a new
line, or is facing
repair issues,
instead of getting
frustrated she
simply sends an
email or calls
Tricom and the
problem is taken
care of.
RESULTS
– More jobs are
being filled, as the
customer is free
again since Tricom
is now doing the
worrying for her.
Irrigation
Distributor
Increases Bandwidth
Flow with Network
VPN
THE COMPANY
– A large irrigation
distributor with
locations in three
states
PROBLEM
– The customer’s
legacy frame service
was neither
providing the
reliability nor the
Internet bandwidth
the customer
required to
efficiently manage
communications
inside and outside
company sites. In
particular, with
some of the new
software
applications the
company had recently
installed, the
service was bogging
down to a trickle.
SOLUTION
– Tricom teamed with
Qwest to provide a
network based VPN
for the customer.
With this VPN, there
was only a single
contivity box on
site, managed by
Qwest. By installing
a full T1 at each of
the customer’s
sites, the bandwidth
problem evaporated,
plus greater
encryption
capabilities enabled
the customer’s
network to become
more secure.
Moreover, the cost
of both the upgrade
and management of
the service turned
out to be less
than what the
customer had been
paying for their old
legacy frame
service.
RESULTS
– The customer is
spending less to get
more, and crucial
bandwidth it needed
now flows like
water.
Sports Equipment
Manufacturer Aces
International Access
Problem
THE COMPANY
– An international
sports equipment
manufacturer
PROBLEM
– The sales and
management staff of
this well-known
sports manufacturer
were frustrated by
their inability to
remotely access the
company’s private IP
based network. As an
international
company, traveling
users needed round
the clock, encrypted
access to sales and
distribution data. A
VPN (virtual private
network) would solve
the problem, but the
company did not want
to invest a lot of
time and money
managing a VPN.
SOLUTION
– Tricom teamed with
Savvis, an
internationally
integrated IP
network services
provider, to devise
a fixed-cost VPN
solution that remote
users could use
anywhere in the
world to access the
customer’s private
IP network. Savvis
manages the VPN
instead of the
company, allowing it
to quickly add and
delete users per
the customer's
request.
RESULTS
–The
customer's sales
team can now access
their internal
network anywhere in
the world as long as
there is an Internet
connection. The VPN
solution is safe
from global
competitor’s eyes as
well: encryption and
other security
mechanisms ensure
that only authorized
users can access the
network and that
data cannot be
intercepted.
Trucking Company Get
Long-Haul Solution
for Nationwide
Dial-Tone
THE COMPANY
– A nationwide
trucking company
PROBLEM
– A booming economy
means more goods
need to be shipped
to more places. To
keep up with demand,
this company has
been opening new
offices all over the
country – sometimes
two or three per
month. In addition,
they add phone lines
on a continual
basis.
Unfortunately, the
company’s telecom
team was not able to
keep up to speed,
and were becoming
extremely frustrated
having to follow up
with more than a
half dozen different
telecom companies
just to get phone
lines in place.
SOLUTION
– Utilizing Tricom’s
national reach --
and its relationship
with virtually every
LEC (local exchange
carrier) in the
country – the
customer is now able
to outsource its
line orders simply
by firing off an
email to Tricom, who
then arranges
immediate set up of
the new dial tone
and even follows up
on the order, making
sure no problems are
encountered. Once
the lines are
installed, Tricom
notifies the company
about the service
specifics.
RESULTS
– The customer now
gets their lines
installed quicker
and without
having to utilize
their own employee
resources. The
result? Faster
installs and more
efficient use of
resources add up to
a “long-haul”
solution that
enables more
profitable
operations for this
trucking company. |
